    I'm trying to shutdown GCE properly via:

    m_ignite.close(); // Ignite.close()
    m_ignite.executorService().shutdown();
    Ignition.stop(true);

    but still get:

    "WARNING: Ignite node stopped in the middle of checkpoint. Will restore memory state and finish checkpoint on node start."

    What is the recommended way to stop/shut down an (embedded) ignite instance?

    Hello!

    Have you tried doing Ignition.stop(false)? The parameter is 'cancel', I assume if you specify true it will cancel current checkpoint.

    ignite.close() would do the same (cancel=true), so if m_ignite is Ignite I recommend to avoid doing that, only using Ignition.stop(galse). I also do not think that you need to shutdown executor manually.
